The Candlenut was brought from Polynesia to Hawaii, where it is now the emblematic tree.
The oil extracted from its nuts, known as Kukui or kemiri, is used in cooking or in oil painting.
Hawaiian women coat their hair with it to make it more beautiful. It also protects babies’ dry, fragile skin.
