Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid is one of the main skin support molecules (along with collagen and elastin).
Over 50% of the body’s total Hyaluronic Acid is found in the skin. A real sponge, its structure allows it to capture and retain up to a thousand times its weight in water and thus preserve the skin’s hydration, by creating a protective and hydrating barrier making it softer, smoother and plumped up.
The Hyaluronic Acid content in the dermis and epidermis decreases with age. It is estimated that at age 50, half of the amount of Hyaluronic Acid present at birth has disappeared. Certain alterations due to the passage of time, such as loss of skin elasticity, the appearance of wrinkles and skin dehydration are closely linked to the reduction in the quantity of Hyaluronic Acid in the skin.
