Borage
(Borago officinalis)
Originally from the Middle East, borage has gradually colonised the Mediterranean region. It is found on roadsides and in rocky areas where it grows in abundance. This herbaceous plant features thick stems covered in small, stiff hairs, with deciduous, ample foliage similar to that of nettle. It catches the eye with its beautiful, star-shaped, intense blue flowers.
Its small fruits contain brown oil seeds, whose oil has many virtues. Although Borage has been recognised for its taste and therapeutic properties since antiquity, its oil regenerates and soothes the skin.
