In Brazil, this palm tree is a symbol of immortality among certain tribes. It is used for many aspects of everyday life, from making bags from the leaves, and frames from the trunk to desserts from the fruit.
Native to the Amazon rainforest, it produces up to 8 majestic flowers per year giving edible and very nutritious hard shells. Its oil protects from the sun and gives a healthy glow.
Producing a healthy glow, carotenoids, responsible for the oil’s orange colour, also give it photoprotective properties. Its fatty acids and tocopherols reduce oxidative stress which causes premature ageing of the skin. Nourishing, they also protect against dehydration by strengthening the hydrolipid film.
